About the role
Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Foley, AL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in STEM fields and experience in improving product design and implementing process technology upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Work cross-functionally with stress, design, electrical, materials and process engineers to improve product design to achieve maximum producibility
- Implement process technology upgrades by applying various engineering applications such as robotics and automation
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) events across all business processes and with all levels of leadership
- Support design and arrangement of tooling and machines of the manufacturing process (layout) collaborating with production team
- Identify opportunities on drawings and specs to influence changes to engineering designs that improve product manufacturing and producibility
- Participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during fabrication
- Use advanced data analytics to analyze First Pass Yield (FPY) productivity and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets and improvement
- Ensure sequence on manufacturing process and product builds complies with EH&S and Quality requirements
- Drive problem-solving initiatives & challenge status quo (Corrective Action Investigations, OEE, FPY and Customer escapes)
- Work cross-functionally with Quality participating and contributing to PFMEA and Control Plans
- Participate in digital manufacturing initiatives with support from Digital Subject Matter Experts (SME)
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience reading and interpreting specifications, and engineering drawings and models
- Experience adapting equipment or tooling design to factory and production conditions
- Experience with Continuous Improvement tools
- Experience with CAD design software
