Type: Full-time, remote
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST
Compensation: $1,500/month

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced manual QA tester to own quality across our consumer web and mobile products. Quality remains shared by Product and Engineering; QA should expose risk, not become the release safety net — designing your own coverage, hunting down the issues automation misses, and giving Product and Engineering a clear read on release risk. This role suits someone who works independently, thinks in terms of real customer journeys rather than checklists alone, and writes bug reports so precise that no one has to ask a follow-up question.

Responsibilities

  • Turn product requirements, designs, and acceptance criteria into practical, risk-based test plans and checklists.
  • Perform functional, smoke, regression, exploratory, integration, and release testing across supported browsers, screen sizes, and iOS/Android devices.
  • Validate critical customer journeys in development, preview, staging, and production environments as appropriate.
  • Test happy paths, edge cases, interruptions, permissions, uploads, navigation, slow or unreliable connections, and state persistence.
  • Check cross-platform consistency, responsive layouts, copy, loading/empty/error states, accessibility basics, and overall usability.
  • File high-signal bug reports with the environment and build, device/browser details, preconditions, exact reproduction steps, expected versus actual behavior, severity, and screenshots or video.
  • Re-test fixes, run focused regression around changed areas, and keep issue status accurate through release.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to clarify requirements, surface release risk, and make clear ship/no-ship recommendations.
  • Maintain reusable regression suites, test data, device/browser coverage, and QA documentation.
  • Improve the QA process by identifying recurring failure patterns and gaps in coverage.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on manual QA experience testing consumer web and mobile products.
  • Demonstrated experience testing on both iOS and Android, plus responsive desktop and mobile browsers.
  • Strong command of test-case design, exploratory testing, regression testing, defect triage, and release validation.
  • Ability to turn incomplete or ambiguous requirements into organized test coverage without waiting for step-by-step instructions.
  • Excellent bug-reporting skills: another person can reproduce the issue from your ticket without a follow-up meeting.
  • Strong attention to detail across functionality, visual presentation, copy, state changes, and platform-specific behavior.
  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle and basic client/server and HTTP concepts.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication.
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable managing several features or releases in a fast-moving remote environment.
  • Customer empathy and sound judgment about severity, business impact, and release risk.
  • State that Machines and personal devices are a requirement.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with consumer subscription, marketplace, social, or dating products.
  • Comfort using browser developer tools, API-testing tools, logs, or basic read-only database queries to narrow down failures.
  • Familiarity with Linear, Slack, GitHub preview builds, or similar product-development workflows.
  • Knowledge of mobile accessibility and common iOS/Android platform conventions.
  • Exposure to automated testing and the judgment to identify cases worth automating, while remaining focused on manual QA.
