About the role

This senior project-management position focuses on civil-engineering projects in Washington, centered in Seattle, with occasional travel to other Shrewsberry offices and potential markets. The role includes administrative and engineering functions, proposals, budgets, scheduling, client meetings, tracking, reporting, contracts, and status reports. It may also involve business-development support for the Director/Principal in cultivating client contacts and expanding Shrewsberry’s market presence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Shrewsberry personnel and sub-contractors to meet contract/project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Represent Shrewsberry in assigned locations, markets, and industry associations.
  • Ensure engineering services meet professional standards, client requirements, and Shrewsberry objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of projects, including scope documentation, key deliverables, timelines, change orders, cost control, staffing, and quality control.
  • Deliver technical solutions for complex roadway designs on large-scale projects and mentor mid-level and junior staff.
  • Advise on the overall direction of the Seattle office and transportation/traffic markets.
  • Participate in proposal presentations and collaborate with technical staff to develop proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
  • Determine staffing levels required for projects and maintain schedule, budget, and profitability.
  • Use project-management software to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify key local prospects and leads, and participate in project pursuits.
  • Engage in client-relationship management for assigned key clients.
  • Develop and maintain a strong business network.
  • Research and gather information on potential clients and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 15+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in a consultant role.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Proven track record of delivering transportation design projects; experience with alternate delivery methods preferred.
  • Prior experience leading and developing teams, including direct reports.

Pay

Base salary range: $165,000 – $200,000 per year, plus equity and a competitive benefits package.
