Senior Manager, Supplier Management

About the role

Lead, manage, and develop the team responsible for supply and supplier management of raw materials delivered from suppliers to Novo Nordisk sites. Identify and develop solutions to issues arising in crisis situations as well as during qualification and optimization projects. Ensure supply chain solutions align with the strategic direction of Sourcing Operations (SoOp), Product Supply (PS), and Novo Nordisk. Represent SoOp in relevant stakeholder groups and foster collaboration across internal and external stakeholders globally. Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team and across related organizational entities while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and readiness for inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and oversee the daily activities of direct reports within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with Inbound Supply Management (ISM) stakeholders, take on cross-ISM responsibilities, and ensure inter-organizational collaboration.
  • Manage the effective supply of raw materials from suppliers to Product Supply (PS) sites.
  • Act as the SoOp sourcing representative in relevant groups and as a SoOp representative in PS Core Groups to develop new processes and optimize supply chains.
  • Ensure supply chain solutions support the strategic direction of SoOp, PS, API M1-US, and Novo Nordisk while maintaining inspection readiness and compliance.
  • Drive global sourcing of production materials from worldwide vendors to NN sites within PS and CMC, ensuring on-time, in-full, and QDC-balanced delivery.
  • Establish appropriate operational governance models for each category to secure effective project execution, supply management, and supplier relationship development with Strategic Sourcing and other stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-organization optimization projects by driving and coaching project teams, recommending solutions, and implementing best practices.
  • Ensure team compliance with the ES Quality Management System, core SOPs, internal procedures, regulatory requirements (GxP), and readiness for audits and inspections.
  • Support management with data related to demand, capacities, inventories, and supplier management, including input for Balanced Scorecard Metrics and departmental KPIs within Supply Chain.
  • Secure continuous improvement in customer satisfaction through feedback, collaboration, and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
  • Develop reporting personnel by ensuring individual development plans (IDPs) with annual goals, interim reviews, and learning/aspiration plans to enable career growth and accountability.
  • Manage the application and communication of Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and the Novo Nordisk Way.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Engineering, or a relevant field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain Management, material or production planning, or manufacturing, with a preference for pharmaceutical or other regulated industries.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership, management, and/or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for pharmaceutical or other regulated industries.
  • APICS Training & Certification (CSCP or CPIM) is a plus.
  • Experience leading or managing projects of various sizes and complexity is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate across cultural barriers and with various management levels internally and externally.
  • Proven process improvement and problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of LEAN concepts and Flow manufacturing skills is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems (BW, APO, ECC preferred) is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of Novo Nordisk production processes and support processes such as Quality Control and Quality Assurance is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in mentoring and staff development, change management, planning and organizing, and managing execution of complex cross-functional team projects.

Schedule

This role may require up to 10% travel, which can vary based on role-specific needs.
