Senior Manager, Software Engineering
About the role
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, is responsible for leveraging technology to deliver critical business outcomes for the Client CIO and Operations functions. Reporting to the Global Head of Software Engineering, this role partners closely with the Global Head of Technology, Client COO, CIO Leadership, Transformation Office, CIO Team, Client Operations Team, and broader Technology organization to execute on strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the CIO and Client Operations teams.
- Deliver measurable business value, including quantifiable financial impact, aligned to defined business outcomes.
- Partner closely with business leaders to define a clear technology vision and roadmap; deliver solutions aligned to strategic priorities and communicate progress effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Leverage cutting-edge Generative AI capabilities into the software development lifecycle to enhance productivity and innovation.
- Develop deep domain expertise to inform technology strategy, solution design, and long-term capability development.
- Lead engineering teams in embedding cutting-edge Generative AI capabilities into the software development lifecycle to enhance productivity and innovation.
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of technology initiatives, including third-party system implementations and internally developed solutions across the full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and support).
- Lead stakeholder management during support escalations, ensuring clear communication, alignment on impact and remediation plans, and timely resolution of critical issues.
- Champion industry-standard agile development and modern engineering best practices.
- Coach and mentor team members to support their professional growth and technical development.
- Collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams, fostering alignment and high performance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of technology experience within the wealth or asset management industry, including at least 5 years in a hands-on engineering leadership or management role.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in embedding cutting-edge Generative AI capabilities into the software development lifecycle, establishing appropriate governance and guardrails, and scaling responsible AI practices across the organization.
- Demonstrated track record as a transformational change leader within complex, high-growth environments, driving measurable business impact through disciplined execution and delivery.
- Strong hands-on technical foundation, including experience with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, cloud architecture, security frameworks, application modernization, and multiple development stacks.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization—from highly technical engineers to senior executive stakeholders.
- Innovative and client-focused mindset, with a passion for leveraging technology to create differentiated and impactful client experiences.
- Proven people leader with the ability to lead effectively upward, downward, and laterally across a matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing technical talent.
Skills
- Proven experience managing third-party vendors and outsourced engineering teams in the successful delivery of complex technology initiatives.
- Strong understanding of digital transformation trends and their impact on the industry, with knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices.
- Broad financial acumen, including a solid understanding of financial markets, economic fundamentals, and investment concepts.
- Experience collaborating effectively within geographically distributed and global teams.

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $170,000 - $220,000.
