About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Manager to lead our technical team and drive the development of innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in relevant technologies or industries, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for technology and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Technical oversight: Design and oversee the build-out and operations of complex distributed systems at scale in a fast-paced digital organization.
- Engineering leadership: Direct, support, and evaluate technical value, ensuring best-in-class, scalable solutions for future needs.
- System performance: Monitor and optimize team and system performance, identifying opportunities for enhancement and addressing bottlenecks. Establish KPIs and OKRs for quantitative insight.
- Talent management: Recruit, manage, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team while fostering a positive, innovative culture.
- End-to-end ownership: Lead teams from strategy through delivery on complex, highly visible engineering projects.
- Prioritization and pivots: Guide team prioritization in alignment with strategic objectives and coach engineers through pivots while maintaining focus on overall goals.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with engineering, platform, design, and security teams to develop solutions aligned with guidelines.
- Coalition building: Establish relationships with partners and customers to understand and support their vision and goals.
- Risk management: Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate internal and external risks, presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Staying current: Keep updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development, analytics, and AI to drive innovation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on engineering and software development.
- 5+ years of hands-on cloud development in GCP, along with expertise in building applications using Angular and Java frameworks.
- 4+ years recruiting, managing, and retaining a high-performing team of software development professionals in an agile environment.
- 1+ year using generative AI as an integrated component in software solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience in Angular, API Platform, and full-cycle development from strategy to execution.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (Azure, GCP, AWS), engineering frameworks, and tools.
- Ability to diagram complex software architectures and communicate engineering ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding and familiarity with CI/CD, cloud DevOps, containers (Kubernetes/Docker), and GCP managed services.
- Experience in large Retail or Pharmacy industries is a plus.
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $118,450.00 - $260,590.00 annually. This range represents the base salary and may vary based on experience, education, geography, and other factors. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program, as well as equity awards.
