Senior Manager - Sales and use Tax

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Sales and Use Tax to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on providing expert sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies, driving business development, and managing complex engagements.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies.
• Generate new revenue on existing client portfolios, cross-sell services, and build new client relationships for the tax practice.
• Serve as a Career Advisor, mentor, or coach to one or more employees, offering honest and timely performance feedback.
• Integrate with clients, local and regional RSM SALT teams, the overall RSM tax team, and RSM audit and consulting colleagues.
• Manage technical research memoranda, nexus studies, exposure quantification, voluntary disclosures, and other sales tax mitigation strategies, audit defense, appeals, reverse sales tax audits, and state tax consulting projects.
• Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus on delivering high-value, quality tax advice and expanding services to clients.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• One of the following: CPA, CMA, JD, or LLM.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience providing sales and use tax consulting services in a public accounting, consulting, or law firm.
• A thorough knowledge of a variety of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as tax planning, restructuring, due diligence, audit defense, reverse audits, and state controversy work.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to travel up to 25%.
