Responsibilities
- Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution.
- Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution.
- Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
- Oversee day-to-day safety operations by conducting on-site safety evaluations (i.e., office and field) that emphasize our cultural values of safety and well-being, while coaching employees when safety issues are observed in a positive and productive manner.
- Conduct on-site safety training programs that ensure a safe workplace for all employees at branch offices and field operations, including weekly calls, lunch and learns, and onsite compliance training, as required.
- Assists with the development and implementation of overall safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and institutional policies at local operations.
- Work closely with the operations group to ensure all activities are performed in a safe manner in compliance with applicable company policies and regulatory considerations.
- Interact with Branch Management team to support the safety efforts of the branch (i.e., office safety, emergency action planning, etc.).
- Assist the Safety Director in the development of safety training programs, and best operating procedures for all levels of employees.
- Provide environmental, health, and safety expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Create functional strategies and specific objectives to address risk, health, and safety issues identified during on-site visits.
- Remain cognizant of changing safety rules and regulations of government and updates company programs accordingly.
- Author communications about site evaluations, branch interactions, and safety issues observed for regional distribution.
- Work closely with Director of Safety & Compliance to address and resolve significant issues.
- Participate on Safety Council as an active member to provide insight about on-site observations, safety violations and positive coaching opportunities.
- Ensures the company adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations, such as those from DOT, FMCSA, FAA and OSHA, and customer requirements.
- Aids the Integration Team to integrate newly acquired companies into Bowman’s culture of safety.
- Develops and maintains emergency response plans and procedures to prepare employees for unforeseen events.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes, compiling reports and recommending preventative measures.
- Maintains safety metrics and identifies trends for continuous improvement.
- Helps gather safety documentation, such as inspection sheets, training records, and incident reports.
- Works closely with operational teams, leadership, and employees to promote safety awareness and implement safety initiatives.
- Collaborates with Director of Safety Strategy & Compliance to align field practices with company policies.
- Promotes a positive safety culture and employee engagement at all levels.
Qualifications
- Seven or more (7+) years of experience in providing services that support the construction, mining, energy, and transmission pipeline industries.
- Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and DOT regulations.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft suite.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States and be able to be “on call” 24/7 for emergencies.

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Range $121,707 - $158,219 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Physical Demands and Working Environment
- Partly indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
