About the role
Barti is a venture-backed startup dedicated to transforming the way eye care practices operate through AI-powered software. The company recently secured a Series A funding round and is expanding its services to more practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a team of RCM associates and contractors, overseeing hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Own the daily execution of the revenue cycle, including medical coding, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and A/R follow-up, with a focus on efficiency and compliance.
- Lead high-priority projects from inception to completion, including new client implementations, process overhauls, and system rollouts, ensuring alignment with the Head of RCM.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as clean claim rate, days in A/R, and net collection rate, and recommend improvements to the RCM strategy.
- Show up in key client conversations, fostering trust and strengthening relationships between Barti and external healthcare practices.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines, and develop processes and documentation to support a growing team.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing, or healthcare operations, with at least 2 years of experience managing mid-size teams.
- Strong proficiency in RCM technology, including clearinghouses, EHR/PM systems, and advanced tools for managing denials.
- A strong analytical mindset with experience using operational data to manage team performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Exceptional people management skills, including experience in hiring, coaching, and developing a remote team of associates and/or contractors.
- A proven track record of meaningful client engagement, with the ability to communicate effectively and build trust with external stakeholders.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with RCM in the eye care (optometry or ophthalmology) industry.
- Professional coding certification (e.g., CPC, COC).
- Experience managing RCM for external healthcare practices.
- Hands-on experience with RCM platforms such as TriZetto, Availity, or similar.
- Knowledge of 837/835 file forms.
- Experience managing a mix of full-time employees and contractors.
