About the role

The Senior Manager Operational Excellence is responsible for managing, evaluating, and improving the Patient Access Services departments in all states to ensure stable, highly qualified Patient Access Services and Pre-Service teams across the enterprise. Specific program oversight may include process improvement, Epic enhancements and upgrades, training and education, data analysis and interpretation, including functions related to the management of teams, strategic planning and measurement, and human resource management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee process improvement initiatives within Patient Access Services and Pre-Service teams.
  • Manage Epic enhancements and upgrades.
  • Develop and deliver training and education programs.
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation to drive decision-making.
  • Lead strategic planning and measurement efforts.
  • Manage human resources and team development.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission, EMTALA, HIPAA, and CMS.
  • Optimize workflow processes, particularly as they relate to complex computer systems.
  • Standardize complex and disparate practices while maintaining common processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, or a related field.
  • 8 or more years of experience in Patient Access Services or Revenue Cycle departments.
  • 10 or more years of experience in a large healthcare delivery system.
  • 6 or more years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with all aspects of Revenue Cycle, including registration, scheduling, front desk check-in processes, authorization, denials, and insurance billing.
  • Experience evaluating issues and trends from both creative and systemic angles.
  • Familiarity with legal and compliance requirements of Access Services and Revenue Cycle.
  • Experience with computer systems and IT solutions used in Revenue Cycle, such as registration/scheduling systems, automated eligibility solutions, computerized training delivery systems, payment processing systems, scanning solutions, and third-party vendors.
  • Experience developing training materials based on different learning styles.
  • Proven ability to standardize complex and disparate practices.
  • Experience with process improvement methodology, change management, and operational improvement in complex systems.
  • Experience optimizing workflow processes, particularly in relation to complex computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic Healthcare Systems experience.

Pay

Salary ranges vary by location:

  • California:
    • Humboldt: $63.50 – $100.26 per hour
    • All Northern California (except Humboldt): $71.25 – $112.48 per hour
    • All Southern California (except Bakersfield): $63.50 – $100.26 per hour
    • Bakersfield: $60.92 – $96.18 per hour
  • Oregon:
    • Non-Portland Service Area: $56.79 – $89.66 per hour
    • Portland Service Area: $60.92 – $96.18 per hour
  • Washington:
    • Western: $63.50 – $100.26 per hour
    • Southwest (Olympia, Centralia & below): $60.92 – $96.18 per hour
    • Eastern: $54.21 – $85.59 per hour
    • Southeastern: $56.79 – $89.66 per hour

These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
