Senior Manager, Project Finance/Accounting
About the role
This leadership opportunity is with a major infrastructure organization in Austin, Texas. The Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting will lead the finance and accounting function supporting the organization's Texas operations and multiple infrastructure-related business activities, including large-scale water and treatment infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead the finance and accounting function supporting multiple infrastructure projects and business operations.
- Oversee project accounting, including project costs, financial activity, and reporting.
- Lead customer billing and collections activities.
- Manage accounting for capital expenditures and infrastructure investments.
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Review and analyze financial statements, project results, and supporting schedules.
- Monitor project financial performance and identify variances, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner closely with project, operations, finance, and leadership teams to support business decisions.
- Ensure accounting processes and financial information are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Oversee accounting activities across multiple projects and business areas.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting/finance team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation or another relevant professional accounting designation preferred.
- Significant progressive experience in project accounting, construction accounting, infrastructure, EPC, or another project-based environment.
- Strong experience with project accounting, customer billing, collections, capital accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing accounting or finance activities across multiple projects, entities, or business operations.
- Previous people leadership or team management experience.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, project financials, and reporting processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project, operational, finance, and senior leadership teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
