About the role

The Senior Manager, People Technology leads and develops a team responsible for Deel's people technology automation and integration strategy. This role requires a strong track record in building and maintaining automations, as well as experience in managing HRIS security and integration with other tools.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, lead, and develop a team of people systems and automation professionals, setting clear goals, growth plans, and performance expectations.
  • Coach team members on technical craft and stakeholder management, providing hands-on guidance for complex automation and integration work.
  • Own team capacity planning and prioritization across a growing portfolio of automation requests from People, Finance, and other functions.
  • Own the strategy and roadmap for Deel's people technology automation layer, including tool evaluation, architecture, and sequencing of major initiatives.
  • Partner with People, Finance, Product, and IT leadership to design, build, test, and deploy new automations and integrations that scale with the business.
  • Manage vendor and platform relationships for M&A activities, including integration ownership for tools and services within the Deel's M&A portfolio.
  • Drive process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and enhance the employee experience.
  • Establish standards for documentation, testing, monitoring, and change management across all automations owned by the team.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across automation bridges between legacy systems and Deel's proprietary solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional, automation-focused projects, including new tool rollouts, workflow audits, and integration enhancements.
  • Own escalation and incident response for critical people technology workflows, ensuring timely resolution and clear stakeholder communication.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in people technology, HRIS, or systems/automation roles, with a strong track record of building and maintaining automations using low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Expected Tool Set: HRIS / iPaaS experience (e.g., Workday, Deel, Workato, Greenhouse), AI-assisted tooling, Advanced, hands-on experience with workflow tools like Zapier (multi-step zaps, paths, filters), or Jira workflow automation (including JQL and workflow configuration).
  • Track record or leading people integration and system migration projects.
  • Strong perspective on AI strategy to increase productivity within People teams.
  • Experience managing HRIS security and access controls and integration with other tools like Okta, JIRA, or 3rd party software.
  • 3–5 years of direct people management experience, leading and developing a team of systems, HRIS, or automation professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and roadmap priorities for a team, balancing hands-on problem-solving with delegation.
  • Broad automation technology knowledge, including API-based integrations, webhooks, data mapping, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with people processes such as onboarding, performance, compensation cycles, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail, and the ability to see the broader strategic picture.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence — able to translate technical topics into clear business language for senior stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and a builder's mindset — thrives in dynamic, fast-scaling environments.
