About the role
We are recruiting a highly visible leadership role to build the payments function, guide a major processing transformation, and support high-volume transactions across physical locations and digital channels for a large, multi-location consumer organization modernizing its enterprise payment technology. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced payments leader who enjoys developing teams, shaping strategy, and creating scalable solutions in a fast-moving environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a team of payment engineers, architects, analysts, and product owners
- Define the enterprise payments technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap
- Lead payment processor implementations, migrations, and modernization initiatives
- Oversee payment gateways, APIs, transaction services, and third-party integrations
- Support authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, chargebacks, and reconciliation
- Direct POS, payment terminal, card-present, and digital payment capabilities
- Ensure platforms are scalable, resilient, observable, and highly available
- Establish PCI-DSS, tokenization, encryption, monitoring, and incident-response practices
- Manage processors, acquiring banks, gateways, vendors, and implementation partners
- Partner with Security, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and executive leadership
Qualifications
- Approximately 10 years or more of enterprise payments, fintech, or payment-platform experience
- Leadership experience involving payment technology teams or large transformation programs
- Deep knowledge of processors, gateways, acquiring banks, card networks, and settlement
- Experience supporting high-volume, omnichannel payment environments
- Strong understanding of POS technology, digital payments, APIs, and cloud architecture
- Expertise in PCI-DSS, payment security, tokenization, and encryption
- Proven ability to build teams and establish effective operating processes
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with detailed technical decision-making
- Effective communicator who can influence technical, business, and executive stakeholders
