About the Role
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a strategic Senior Manager of Public Relations to lead a small team in shaping and delivering compelling communications to support our business. This role focuses on leading key capture communications for priority business initiatives, developing communications strategies across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels, and measuring results. The position can be located in Baltimore, MD, McLean, VA, Huntsville, AL, or Redondo Beach, CA.
You will work closely with cross-functional communications teams and business leaders to create strategic, omni-channel communications that tell our story to key audiences. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the layered missile defense portfolio and environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Communications Director to evolve and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to drive company reputation, brand awareness, and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead priority capture communications focused on strategic business priorities across the space portfolio and enterprise portfolio.
- Elevate the company story by supporting executive thought leadership on next-generation technologies and layered missile defense capabilities.
- Lead and mentor a team of dedicated communications professionals, supporting their professional development and goals.
- Oversee the development and execution of omni-channel, integrated communications plans to achieve business and communication goals.
- Lead, prepare, and position subject matter experts for strategic communications opportunities across channels, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare and share metrics on communications efforts and leverage results to evolve strategies and approaches.
- Partner with functional colleagues to develop communications materials, including collateral, videos, speeches, presentations, and media engagements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 13 years of experience in communications, media relations, public relations, and public affairs OR Master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in these fields.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Experience leading or managing cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience in developing and activating strategic media and communication campaigns with measurable business impact.
- Experience in a large, matrixed, and/or geographically dispersed organization.
- Aerospace and defense industry experience, with familiarity of DoD and global government customers.

Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge and experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense, especially the Space Force, Space Development Agency, and Missile Defense Agency.
- Excellent collaboration and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with and influence all levels of management.
- Experience in developing executive-level content, talking points, and statements.
- Ability to support and enhance strong communications standards, workflows, and branding guidelines.
- Proven ability to cultivate productive relationships with executives and media representatives.

Pay
Primary level salary range: $159,500.00 - $239,300.00. The above range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
