Accountabilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in the U.S. and at Headquarters, including fundamental market analysis, R&D teams, IT & Digital country experts, trading, portfolio management, and regulatory teams, to align market analysis and modeling activities with overall business objectives.
- Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Become an internal reference on local nodal market dynamics.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of U.S. power markets, including supply, demand, transmission dynamics, price trends, regulatory changes, and technology costs.
- Perform asset analysis and benchmark internal and external scenarios, with the ability to clearly explain differences.
- Ensure models are updated to reflect multiple scenarios.
- Collect and organize relevant data from various sources, including market reports, databases, and internal systems.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Develop robust methodologies for data analysis and interpretation.
- Act as the business leader in the development of accurate models and algorithms to forecast long-term nodal power markets.
- Master the underlying digital products used for modeling.
- Manage the modeling roadmap in close coordination with development teams.
- Run and deliver key business use cases, including basis analysis, hourly price forecasts for the asset portfolio, and support for investment decisions.
- Master the local supply, demand, and transmission context of TotalEnergies’ power generation portfolio.
- Run sensitivities and explain market dynamics clearly to stakeholders.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in the power sector.
- Participate in industry conferences, events, and regulatory forums.
- Share market analysis expertise internally and position the team as a thought leader in the power market domain.
- Propose and deliver the U.S. roadmap for nodal market modeling activities.
Profil du candidat
- Required Education: Master's degree or PhD in economics, finance, engineering, or a related field.
- Required Skills & Experience: Proven experience (10-15 years) in power market analysis or a similar analytical role within the energy sector. In-depth knowledge of ERCOT and/or PJM markets, including electricity pricing, market fundamentals, regulatory frameworks, and policy dynamics. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Project management skills are a plus. Proficiency in statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and data modelling. Experience with statistical software (such as Python, R, or MATLAB) and Modelling softwares (such as BID3, Plexos or PSO) is required. Demonstrated industry awareness and a track record in the power market domain. Knowledge of energy industry trends, renewable energy technologies, and environmental regulations is highly desirable.
