Senior Manager, Manufacturing Process Design

Position Summary

Vertiv is seeking a Senior Manager of Manufacturing Process Design to lead the "Virtual-to-Physical" transition of Power and Thermal products, integrating Full-Line Balancing with high-fidelity Discrete Event Simulation (DES) to optimize manufacturing lines for maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Up-Front Design Integration: Lead NPI process by collaborating with R&D at early design stages, ensuring manufacturing constraints, plant capabilities, and automation requirements are integrated into product DNA before design freeze.
• Synchronized Process Design & Bottleneck Neutralization: Drive operational excellence through Yamazumi modeling, balancing all manufacturing processes to Takt time, neutralizing bottlenecks, and creating a seamless flow to minimize WIP and maximize throughput.
• Data-Driven Simulation (DES): Oversee translation of Yamazumi work-content data and line-balancing profiles into DES models, capturing granular process data to stress-test the production environment and validate throughput targets before physical implementation.
• Proactive DFM/DFA Leadership: Direct DFM/DFA reviews, identifying assembly risks early to reduce ECOs post-launch.
• Virtual Commissioning & Validation: Utilize simulation tools for "What-If" analysis on proposed line layouts, validating equipment selection and IQ/OQ/PQ.
• Root Cause & Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analysis using FMEA and Six Sigma, establishing a feedback loop for continuous optimization.
• Cross-Functional Launch Orchestration: Drive alignment between global design centers and local plant operations, ensuring a flawless handoff to production teams.
• Own process sheet development and justification of CAPEX for NPDI launches, line transfers, and automation projects, building business cases using DES output, throughput modeling, and ROI analysis.
• CAPEX scope definition, vendor coordination, and execution tracking.

Skills

• Advanced Simulation Modeling: Expert-level capability in building and interpreting DES models.
• Industrial Engineering Toolkit: Mastery of Takt time analysis, Work Content Graphing, and Yamazumi work-balancing techniques.
• Executive Communication: Proficient in presenting complex simulation data and project timelines to senior leadership.
• Systems Integration: Familiarity with ERP (SAP) and MES environments, with knowledge of structuring "simulation-ready" manufacturing metadata.
• Bilingual Proficiency: Professional fluency in English and Spanish.

Education and Certifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• A Master’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) or Data Analytics is highly preferred.
