Senior Manager IT Systems

About the role

The Senior Manager of IT Systems at Verkada is responsible for managing a team of IT Systems Engineers, driving technical ownership, and delivering advanced solutions across the company's corporate cloud infrastructure and identity management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5 systems engineers and own all IT SaaS infrastructure.
• Lead IT system projects from start to finish, coordinating across multiple platforms and departments company-wide.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated identity management, endpoint management, and security infrastructure, ensuring compliance and optimal user experiences.
• Design, build, and optimize complex automations leveraging advanced scripting and serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Functions.
• Architect, implement, and support integrations using platforms like Terraform, Okta Workflows, or equivalent tools to automate critical business processes.
• Develop and maintain system and security policies aligned with best practices and industry standards.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional technical teams, including Security, Engineering, Business Systems, and People Operations, to design scalable and secure solutions.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and Tier 3 support for highly complex technical issues.
• Develop comprehensive runbooks, scripts, and detailed technical documentation to support ongoing operations.
• Continuously evaluate opportunities to refine system architecture, automate workflows, and improve overall system efficiency.

Requirements

• 8+ years overall experience in the IT field, 4+ years of progressive experience in IT systems engineering, infrastructure, IT security, or related technical roles.
• Advanced technical expertise in identity management, SCIM integrations, and comprehensive user lifecycle management with significant experience in Okta or similar platforms.
• Strong proficiency with scripting and programming, especially using Python for automations in AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions.
• Extensive experience developing integrations and automations with tools such as Okta Workflows or other enterprise-grade automation platforms.
• Solid familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure), including networking fundamentals, security best practices, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies.
• Expertise in configuration management and policy automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical ideas to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated capability in independently managing complex projects from initial concept through completion and ongoing documentation.
• Highly collaborative, with a proven record of effectively partnering across teams to drive technical excellence.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• CISSP or GSEC certification preferred.

Pay

Annual Pay Range: $200,000—$250,000 USD
