About the role

The Senior Indirect Tax Manager will oversee the indirect tax operations of Canva in the US, Canada, and Latin America, ensuring compliance, transparency, and accuracy. They will prepare and report on indirect taxes, assess and mitigate risks, and develop tax strategies that align with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and report on indirect taxes for financial statements in the US, Canada, and Latin America.
  • Assess and mitigate indirect tax risks using technology and automation.
  • Drive collaboration across departments to enhance cross-functional understanding of indirect tax.
  • Develop and implement solutions for complex indirect tax technical matters.
  • Draft position papers and be a key point of contact for indirect tax matters.
  • Support the development and implementation of indirect tax strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Continuously learn about indirect tax developments worldwide to identify and address impacts to Canva.

Requirements

  • Strong background in indirect tax compliance and accounting for indirect taxes.
  • Experience in both private and public companies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • An eye for detail with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven experience in US sales and use tax compliance, technical advisory, and driving strategies from MVP to high fidelity solutions.
  • Experience with Canadian and LATAM indirect taxes is a plus.
  • The ability to work independently and drive projects and compliance to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, especially Netsuite and Fonoa.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in indirect tax management.
