About the Role
Join our Health System Alignment (HSA) Practice, which provides advisory services to academic and community health systems and universities. The practice focuses on clinical enterprise organizational structure, partnerships and affiliations, governance and management, and funds flow, including physician organization strategy, organizational design, and financial arrangements (e.g., clinical and professional services agreements).
As a Senior Manager at ECG, you will serve as an experienced leader guiding project teams, shaping client strategy, managing complex engagements, and contributing to firm growth. You will advance client relationships, oversee significant project components, coach and develop team members, and contribute to practice and business development initiatives. Senior Managers drive strategic thinking, operational excellence, and team development across engagements.
Responsibilities
- Project Delivery and Client Service
- Lead large portions of project work, applying advanced project management tools and methodologies to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
- Demonstrate mastery across project types, including planning, resource allocation, budget monitoring, and performance oversight.
- Conduct complex analyses with minimal coaching, ensuring findings align with client needs and objectives.
- Integrate insights from multiple data sources and identify proxy or analog data when key information is unavailable.
- Diagnose root causes of complex issues, apply systemic thinking, and guide teams through rigorous problem-solving.
- Facilitate strategic and sensitive discussions with client stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in on recommendations.
- Lead change management efforts and resolve conflicting priorities with strategic foresight.
- Team Leadership and People Development
- Navigate and resolve conflicts; cultivate deep trust and strong commitment among team members.
- Inspire significant positive change within project teams or broader organizational groups.

- Business Development and Firm Contribution
- Proactively identify potential market opportunities and pursue or guide resource allocation as appropriate.
- Introduce relevant colleagues, services, or capabilities to clients to broaden ECG’s presence and strengthen relationships.
- Play a key role in developing and delivering compelling proposals and pitch materials; lead selected pursuits.
- Begin establishing a reputation as a trusted adviser to clients through strategic insights and relationship-building.
- Support or lead initiatives to enhance or expand service offerings, products, or go-to-market approaches.
- Help manage a portfolio of clients, building strong, longitudinal relationships that lead to repeat business.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in business administration and/or master’s degree in a health-related field preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in healthcare consulting or healthcare finance and operations; additional years of experience would be required in place of an advanced degree.
- Experience working with academic health systems on matters related to organizational design, physician alignment, and funds flow strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, oversee teams, and coach talent at multiple levels.
- Advanced experience with data analysis, structured problem-solving, and executive communication.
- Strong business judgment, client management skills, and the ability to navigate dynamic, ambiguous environments.
- Proven ability to contribute to or lead business development activities.
- Commitment to mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive culture.
- Ability to travel 25% of the time.
Locations
Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, San Diego, or Washington, DC.
Schedule
Full time/exempt. Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in office when not traveling for a client engagement.
Pay
The estimated base salary range for this job is $205,000.00 - $232,000.00 annually. The actual salary paid will vary based on factors including years of experience, special skills, and market changes. This job is eligible to participate in ECG’s annual incentive compensation program, reflecting a pay-for-performance philosophy.
