About the role

Petco is where pets and pet people go to live their best lives. As the Senior Manager, Global Sourcing, you will develop and execute global sourcing strategies that deliver cost, quality, speed, and supply continuity across assigned categories. You will lead vendor strategy, negotiation, and production execution while ensuring ethical compliance and operational excellence. This role connects merchandising, product development, product design, quality, and supply chain to bring great products to market on time, at the right cost, and with improved margin—without driving product decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing Strategy & Execution
    • Build and execute multi-year sourcing strategies across regions, suppliers, and categories
    • Lead vendor selection, onboarding, and performance management using data-driven scorecards
    • Negotiate cost, terms, MOQs, payment structures, and capacity allocations to deliver margin targets
    • Drive cost engineering, should-cost analysis, and TCO thinking to unlock structural savings
    • Ensure compliance with ethical, social, and regulatory requirements across all suppliers
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee purchase order flow, production tracking, and on-time delivery performance
    • Partner with quality and compliance teams on testing protocols, corrective actions, and issue resolution
    • Lead continuous improvement across lead times, logistics efficiencies, and supplier reliability
    • Support risk mitigation for geopolitical, capacity, and material disruptions

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years in global sourcing, supply chain, or vendor management (retail or CPG preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of Asia and near-shore sourcing regions
  • Proven negotiation and cost-engineering expertise
  • Experience scaling supplier bases and improving operational performance
  • Strong cross-functional influence without authority
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related advanced degree a plus

With Product Design

  • How They Partner: Provide feasibility input on materials, manufacturability, and cost implications; source innovation opportunities through supplier capability trends
  • What They Don’t Do: Does not influence design intent, aesthetics, or brand direction; does not make design approvals or creative choices

Pay

Salary Range: $142,100.00 – $213,100.00
