Senior Manager Generation Interconnection
About the role
This role is a leadership position focused on Generation Interconnection within the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO). The role involves leading a team in conducting definitive planning phases and expedited resource addition studies, ensuring accurate and timely study results, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve complex technical and operational challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for Generation Queue Definitive Planning Phases (DPP) studies and expedited resource addition studies.
- Drive accountability for accurate, defensible study results and on-time milestone execution in alignment with the MISO Tariff and BPM requirements.
- Oversee the development, validation, and maintenance of power flow, short circuit, stability, and deliverability models that support critical planning decisions.
- Partner with Transmission Owners, Interconnection Customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex technical and operational challenges.
- Guide cross-functional collaboration between engineering, modeling, automation, and data teams to improve study execution and consistency.
- Promote process improvements, automation enhancements, and operational efficiencies that improve throughput and customer experience.
- Balance technical leadership with people leadership—coaching employees, managing priorities, navigating difficult conversations, and helping your team grow and succeed.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should bring strong technical expertise in transmission planning or generation interconnection studies, along with the ability to lead effectively. This role requires sound judgment, thoughtful communication, organizational leadership, and the ability to make difficult decisions while supporting and developing a team in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors or better in Business Administration, Economics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 5 years of previous leadership experience or 10 years of relevant technical energy industry experience.
Skills
Strong technical expertise in transmission planning or generation interconnection studies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team are essential.
