About the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Food Safety & Quality Compliance, to join our team based in Oak Brook, IL.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on applicable food safety regulations and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to facility and warehouse personnel in developing systems, knowledge, and practices to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, company policies, and external audits (including customer, certification, GFSI, and regulatory).
  • Monitor and report on emerging food safety and quality issues; recommend strategies and develop policies and procedures to mitigate risks.
  • Provide expert advice on complex regulatory concerns.
  • Manage all documentation related to regulatory compliance, including registrations, licenses, and responses to inspection findings.
  • Lead improvements to the Food Safety and Quality Internal Audit Assessment Program, including conducting desk and on-site assessments as needed.
  • Act as the technical expert for GFSI compliance and oversee the development, review, and implementation of related policies and procedures.
  • Lead the development and delivery of orientation and annual training programs for plant and warehouse personnel on GFSI, GMP, HACCP, and PCQI requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Trade Compliance team on food safety and quality aspects of import/export processes and related documentation.
  • Serve as the back-up recall coordinator and act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during recall events.

Requirements

The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $124,800 to $187,200 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs.

This is a full-time, hybrid role on first shift. Ability to travel up to 50% to manufacturing facilities and warehouses to support audits, assessments, and compliance activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Biology, or a related field is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in regulatory affairs, food safety, quality assurance, or related technical roles.
  • Relevant food safety certifications are strongly preferred (e.g., HACCP, PCQI, GFSI, FSVP, Food Defense); experience with LACF/ACF environments a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise systems and programs supporting food safety and quality, such as ERP/WMS platforms (e.g., SAP), learning management systems, audit and incident management tools, and warehouse quality programs.
  • Experience with various food processing methods and regulatory frameworks (FDA, USDA, CFR, LACF/ACF).
  • Proficient in food safety systems (HACCP, GFSI, preventive controls, traceability, audits).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Prominent ability to lead cross-functional teams, conduct audits, and manage compliance documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and business acumen skills.
  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
