The Viral Vector Services (VVS) business, part of Thermo Fisher’s Pharma Services Group, is an experienced viral vector CDMO supporting gene therapies. We focus on process and analytical development, and clinical and commercial supply. Our highly skilled team has managed over 100 client projects, delivering first-in-human clinical materials to accelerate products from the laboratory to patients in need.

About the role

The Senior Finance Manager provides financial and business support for the Plainville site within the Viral Vector Services business unit. This position works closely with operating management to develop and execute strategies that drive profitable growth and improve quality and service levels for our customers. This role requires an on-site presence of 4–5 days per week at our Plainville, MA location (5 Commerce Boulevard). Relocation assistance is not available at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager & leadership team to set and deliver the business plan and meet key operating and financial goals.
  • Manage the Annual Operating Plan process, Quarterly & Monthly Business Reviews, and weekly forecasts in collaboration with the leadership team, site GM, and Finance managers.
  • Ensure the site meets monthly corporate reporting deadlines and complies with all accounting standards and US GAAP.
  • Develop performance reporting tools, metrics, analysis, and recommendations to optimize business results.
  • Prepare and present analysis and authorization for significant capital investments.
  • Partner with commercial colleagues to develop and model customer deals, and drive contract compliance.
  • Manage and drive components of cash flow including capital, inventory, and accounts receivables.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a complex, multinational, multi-site environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  • Strong and persuasive communicator with credibility in a dynamic, challenging environment.
  • Desire to drive process improvements and challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to translate data and metrics into actionable business insights.
  • Strong results orientation with a bias for action.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Advanced skills in Hyperion, Oracle/Essbase, and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a relevant analytical background.
  • CPA, Chartered Accountant, MBA, or equivalent is a plus.
  • 8+ years of progressive relevant work experience within a global organization.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position based in Massachusetts is $130,000.00–$194,950.00. This position may also be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.

Schedule

Standard work schedule (Monday–Friday), with an on-site presence of 4–5 days per week. Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards is required.
