Senior Manager, Environmental Health and Safety
About the role
The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership for environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple Monogram Foods locations. This role works closely with Operations, Quality/Food Safety, Engineering, and site leadership teams to embed safety and environmental stewardship into every aspect of production.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve EHS programs across multiple food manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with Monogram Foods standards and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations
- Identify and recommend improvements to environmental, health & safety systems to reduce costs, increase productivity and efficiency, and improve overall EH&S culture and performance
- Partner with Quality and Food Safety teams to align EHS practices with HACCP plans, sanitation programs, and audit readiness (e.g., SQF, BRC)
- Oversee environmental compliance programs, including wastewater, air emissions, waste handling, and sustainability initiatives
- Support execution of corporate EH&S tactical and strategic plans to improve EH&S performance
- Lead hazard identification and risk reduction efforts across processing, packaging, sanitation, maintenance, and warehouse operations
- Support safe handling, use, and storage of chemicals, including sanitation agents and ammonia refrigeration systems
- Drive implementation and sustainment of safety management systems and continuous improvement processes
- Maintain an active presence on the production floor across shifts to engage team members, build trust, and reinforce safe behaviors
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions
- Analyze EHS metrics and trends to identify opportunities and drive measurable improvements
- Develop and deliver training programs that are clear, accessible, and inclusive for a diverse workforce
- Facilitate safety committees and promote meaningful team member involvement
- Oversee workers’ compensation processes, return-to-work programs, and injury management practices
- Lead and support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs where applicable
- Partner with operations on capital projects, line startups, and process changes to ensure safe design and implementation
- Coach, develop, and support EHS team members and site leadership
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of progressive EHS experience in food manufacturing or a similarly regulated manufacturing industry
- Experience leading multiple sites preferred
- Experience with wastewater management and environmental compliance in food production environments preferred
- Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM requirements preferred
- Ability to travel regularly to support multiple regional locations
- Must be 18 years or older

Physical Demands
Qualified candidates must be able to fulfill the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation. This position primarily requires a team member to walk and perform tasks in an industrial environment, bending, standing, climbing, or walking and can involve sitting for extended periods of time at a computer workstation. This position may require the employee to enter and safely navigate industrial areas and environments that are wet, hot, cold, humid, dusty and/or noisy. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand and walk for 7+ hours per day. Must be able to perform simple grasping for 7+ hours per shift. Must be able to express and exchange written and spoken word in English. Must be able to safely ascend and descend ladders. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment. Required use of PPE may include hair/beard nets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, and other site-specific equipment. Must follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements, including proper gowning and handwashing. Regular presence on the production floor is expected, including off-shift engagement as needed.
