Senior Manager, DT&I Product Management

Job Summary

The Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I) Product Management Senior Manager manages the product lifecycle for proprietary technology solutions supporting the tax practice and delivery of services to clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax and technology product development with a proven track record of successfully launching and managing products used to enable the delivery of professional services.

Job Duties

• Contributes to the vision and product roadmap to maximize value delivered by ensuring the prioritization of the roadmap is aligned with tax practice strategy and needs
• Manages product scope, budget, and timeline
• Leads the product team in delivering value
• Captures requests for capabilities from the practice to determine options and recommendations for fulfilling the need in context of the broader DT&I product strategy
• Ensures products are developed consistently with BDO’s tax technology strategy and guiding principles
• Ensures product team members are following leading practices for providing requirements/user stories and working with the development team
• Oversees and is actively engaged in the process of gathering requirements/user stories
• Oversees the development and execution of product business testing plans
• Coordinates with the tax practice and technical teams for product release logistics
• Manages the creation and execution of the deployment, adoption, and change management plans
• Manages post-release user support

Product Team Management

• Ensures appropriate resources assigned to projects to meet objectives and timelines
• Identifies potential challenges and proposes solutions
• Oversees product management and business analyst senior associates and associates working on assigned projects

Stakeholder Management

• Serves as a point of contact for stakeholders, coordinating and communicating proactively with all relevant stakeholders
• Serves as a liaison between the business and developers, gathering and applying feedback from users and others in the tax practice
• Participates in pursuits by presenting BDO’s technology stack capabilities related to products under management
• Edits tax professionals and business development professionals on BDO’s technology tools and how to present them as part of their pursuits and leverage them effectively on engagements

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or Computer Science, preferred; Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or J.D., preferred
• Experience: Eight (8) or more years of experience in tax and/or technology product management, required; Four (4) or more years of experience in tax, preferred; Four (4) or more years of experience in technology product management with a track record of successfully launching and managing product, preferred; Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, partnerships, and individuals, preferred; Experience with process design and/or improvement, preferred; Experience serving in a product management/product owner role for enterprise grade tax applications that support the delivery of professional services, preferred; License/Certifications: CPA, JD, EA, PMP, or other relevant certification, preferred; Certified Product Manager, preferred
• Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience: Experience with project management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.), preferred; Experience with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Income Tax compliance (OIT) software and ONESOURCE Tax Provision, preferred
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions; Strong organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details; Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization; Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment; Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously; Ability to effectively manage a team of professionals and delegate work assignments as needed; Ability to encourage team environment on projects and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel; Executive presence and the ability to act as the primary contact on assigned projects; Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels; Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
