As DoorDash continues to expand rapidly, our Core Consumer team plays a pivotal role in shaping the consumer experience through enhancing personalization, search relevance, merchandising strategy, app quality, and the overall ordering experience. Our mission is to implement scalable data solutions and provide insights that directly influence our strategic product direction.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager of Data Science/Analytics, you’ll lead a team of data scientists working on improving the consumer experience. You will develop strategic insights and collaborate closely with product, engineering, strategy, and operations teams to build and measure the impact of new features. Your responsibilities include overseeing metrics and analytics strategy to inform product direction, offering technical leadership, building processes to support velocity, and partnering with data and product engineers to create robust data foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Data Scientists in investigating complex issues and uncovering key drivers of our business, while contributing as an Individual Contributor.
  • Influence the Product and Operations roadmap by making actionable recommendations based on data.
  • Interface frequently with senior leadership to showcase your team’s work and tackle complex business problems.
  • Drive measurement strategy for the area under scope, defining success metrics and implementing best practices around experiment design and statistical analysis.
  • Develop a strategic learning roadmap based on data observations, strategic questions, and hypotheses.

Requirements

  • A degree in Math, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a similar domain.
  • Experience managing a team of data scientists, with a track record of delivering impactful analyses.
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Science and Product Analytics, primarily in related industries.
  • 3+ years of experience as a people manager.
  • Strength in leading through technical expertise and ability to leverage it appropriately in a business context.
  • Deep understanding of, and hands-on experience with, experimentation.
  • Experience with data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional working skills, including the ability to present complex findings to non-technical audiences and influence strategic decisions.

Pay

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado, is $219,700—$323,000 USD. In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants.

Schedule

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g., about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g., about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
