Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence will build and lead a centralized Voice-of-Market and competitive intelligence capability within the Marketing Strategy team at Walmart Connect. This role will provide strategic insights to help leadership understand Walmart Connect’s competitive position and inform marketing investment decisions.
What you'll do...
- Analyze the retail media and media technology landscape to understand Walmart Connect’s position relative to competitors.
- Combine insights from third-party research, industry reports, analyst coverage, and advertiser feedback to identify emerging trends, threats, and opportunities.
- Monitor how competitors position, package, and market their advertising products to advertisers.
- Identify patterns in competitor messaging, product launches, and go-to-market strategies.
- Lead the centralized Voice-of-Market capability within Marketing Strategy, including advertiser perception measurement and sentiment tracking.
- Oversee research for metrics such as Must Buy Status, Net Promoter Score (NPS), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT / AdSat).
- Expand measurement across all Walmart advertiser segments.
- Synthesize competitive intelligence, advertiser sentiment data, and performance insights into clear executive-level narratives.
- Translate complex research and market signals into structured insights and actionable recommendations for leadership.
- Develop point-of-view perspectives on competitive positioning and marketing strategy implications.
- Provide insight-driven guidance on where marketing should invest, differentiate, or adjust strategy.
- Integrate insights into executive planning rhythms, including quarterly business reviews and leadership updates.
- Establish a standardized reporting cadence for market and sentiment insights across the organization.
- Ensure leadership has a consistent view of market perception, satisfaction, advocacy, and competitive position.
- Partner closely with teams across Marketing, Product & Analytics, Media Insights to provide strategic guidance while enabling functional teams to act on insights.
Qualifications
- 6–8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, strategy, market research, consulting, or marketing strategy.
- Strong ability to synthesize multiple sources of data into strategic insights and narratives.
- Experience presenting complex insights to senior leadership or executive audiences.
- Strong analytical, storytelling, and strategic thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- Leading cross-functional projects, Marketing or related field.
- Masters: Business Administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance or related field and 4 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- Option 3: 6 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- 1 year's supervisory experience.
Additional Compensation
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Stock.
