Senior Manager, Automated Scoring

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Automated Scoring to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will guide applied research and product innovation at the intersection of machine learning, NLP, and educational assessment. The Senior Manager will lead a team of scientists and partner with technical stakeholders to advance automated scoring capabilities and related detection studies. The work will influence research priorities, support client-facing discussions, and help shape how educational products evolve through data-driven methods. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 annually Responsibilities Support innovation in natural language applications to enhance educational outcomes Drive the development of products using advanced machine learning methods Contribute to the R&D agenda and prioritize projects for the automated scoring team Mentor and lead a team of scientists in their research and development efforts Design and implement studies for automated scoring and crisis alert detection Engage in applied research and publish findings to represent the organization Present at planning and technical advisory committee meetings Qualifications Ph.D. in psychometrics, measurement, NLP, statistics, or a related computational field 10+ years of professional experience in K-12 assessment 8+ years of experience leading teams of software developers, NLP scientists, and data scientists Proven experience in client-facing roles, including presentations Established publication record in NLP applications within K-12 assessment Benefits Remote-first work culture promoting flexibility and work-life balance Reimbursement for setting up a home or remote office Collaborative and inclusive work environment Opportunities for professional development and research publication Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
