Senior Manager Applied Science, Prime Video Personalization & Discovery
About the role
Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime Video Personalization and Discovery operates at a global scale and is responsible for matching customers with the right content at the right time across all touch points throughout customers’ content discovery journey: from home page, title page, and search page, to showing recommendations at the end of an episode or a movie. As a Sr. Manager, Applied Science, you will be responsible for optimizing the complete customer experience across these touch points, building AI and optimization solutions, and working with product and engineering teams to deliver the optimal balance of customer delight and business outcomes.
About the team
Prime Video Personalization and Discovery (PVPD) is dedicated to creating a highly personalized content discovery experience that delights customers and drives both short- and long-term business goals. Our scope includes personalized recommendations, search, marketing, and the advanced machine learning technology and infrastructure that underpins these experiences. Our mission is to automate and enhance customer engagement through personalization using ML and Generative AI.
Basic qualifications
- 10+ years of building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale
- Master's degree in Computer Science (Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent)
- Experience building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale
- Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives
- Experience hiring and leading experienced scientists as well as having a successful record of developing junior members from academia or industry to a successful career track
Preferred qualifications
- 10+ years of practical work applying ML to solve complex problems for large-scale applications
- 5+ years of hands-on work in big data, machine learning and predictive modeling
- 5+ years of people management experience
- PhD in Computer Science (Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent)
- Experience working with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, etc.
- Experience with Java, C++, or other programming language, as well as with R, MATLAB, Python, or an equivalent scripting language
- Experience researching actual applications
Pay
USA, WA, SEATTLE — $218,800.00 – $295,900.00 USD annually
