Location: TJ Maxx Distribution Center, San Antonio, TX (11650 FM 1937).
About the Role
Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs conveyor, sortation, and related material handling equipment, as well as heating, HVAC, plumbing, and other specialized systems to ensure proper, safe, and efficient mechanical/electrical operations within the Distribution Center. Installs new or modifies existing equipment/systems, and designs, fabricates, and installs specialized equipment as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair a variety of building operation systems, including plumbing, electrical, heating, refrigeration, and sprinklers; inspect completed repairs.
- Program and troubleshoot PLC control systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair building and electrical systems, including 230/460 volt three-phase systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including those on lift truck equipment.
- Install, maintain, and repair conveyor systems.
- Perform welding duties, including layout, fabrication, cutting, and welding of structural and light-duty metals in a maintenance environment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Maintain the appearance and integrity of the physical facility.
- Perform general construction installations, maintenance, and repairs (e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing, flooring, roof repairs).
- Perform minor electrical maintenance and repairs of lighting and supply systems.
- Maintain interior and exterior concrete and paving.
- Maintain and repair all dock equipment.
- Perform safety inspections and record maintenance as assigned.
- Maintain shrubbery, lawn, and grounds; perform snow removal duties as needed.
- Assist in dismantling machines or equipment, replacing defective parts and motors, and adjusting feed mechanisms.
- Clean and lubricate machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.
- Replace or repair machine belts.
- Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
- Bend, cut, and thread pipe; cut openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes; seal pipe joints with sealing compound.
- Patch or replace plaster or plasterboard and paint walls, ceilings, and trim.
- Perform battery changes on power equipment.
- Clear clogged drains and replace plumbing fixtures.
- Requisition new materials, tools, and supplies as needed.
- Clean work area, tools, and equipment.
- Perform other special projects or duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance with demonstrated preventative maintenance experience in material handling systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- State licensure or proven knowledge and experience in one or more areas: Electrical, Welding, HVAC, Plumbing, Electro-hydraulics, mechanical and electrical drive systems, etc.
- Willingness to work various shifts to meet business needs.

Pay
This position has a starting pay range of $23.00 to $31.05 per hour. Actual starting pay is determined by relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
