About the role

The Senior Maintenance Technician is an advanced-level technician responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment in a battery manufacturing environment. This role handles complex mechanical and electrical issues, supports plant utilities, and provides technical guidance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting - Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment across casting, pasting, cell, and final assembly operations, as well as all supporting equipment. Perform advanced troubleshooting on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and uptime. Identify root causes of recurring failures and implement corrective actions.

  • Support Production Operations - Respond to equipment downtime with urgency to restore production. Support line changeovers, startups, and equipment adjustments. Work closely with operations to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize disruption.

  • Technical Contribution - Provide hands-on assistance to less experienced mechanics/technicians as needed. Assist in coordinating daily maintenance activities and communicating priorities. Help drive consistent troubleshooting and repair practices across the maintenance team.

  • Fabrication & Equipment Improvement - Fabricate or modify guards, brackets, fixtures, and machine components to improve safety and reliability. Support equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with installation and commissioning of new or modified equipment.

  • Utilities & Facility Support - Monitor and support plant utility systems, including dust collection and wastewater treatment. Identify and address issues that may impact safety, compliance, or production uptime. Support compressed air and other plant support systems as needed.

  • Safety & Compliance - Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements. Work safely in a battery manufacturing environment with lead exposure controls. Identify and report unsafe conditions and participate in corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Education And/or Experience - High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance (preferred but not required). 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Technical Skills - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including ability to: diagnose issues with motors, starters, contactors, overloads, and disconnects; identify faults in sensors, switches, relays, and control components; troubleshoot VFDs, soft starts, and motor control systems; use multimeters and clamp meters to safely identify electrical issues. Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment, including: ability to troubleshoot basic I/O issues, identify electrical vs. controls-related problems, and work with controls or engineering to resolve issues. Advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair of complex production equipment. Strong understanding of rotating equipment, including shafts, bearings, couplings, and alignment. Experience diagnosing and repairing: conveyors and automated material handling systems, gearboxes, chains, belts, and drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders, regulators).

  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to identify and explain the use of special measuring devices; Use table weights and measurements; ability to use formulas to solve basic problems, including volume, circumference, right triangles using Pythagorean theorem.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system using basic computer knowledge.

Pay

$62,800.00-$83,700.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
