Senior Loss Control Consultant

About the role

Cox & Smith Risk Management is seeking experienced Loss Control Consultants to conduct commercial property, general liability, and worker's compensation certified surveys on behalf of leading insurance carriers. This position is ideal for professionals with strong observational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience identifying property, liability, and operational exposures across a wide variety of industries.

Consultants are responsible for representing Cox & Smith Risk Management professionally while providing accurate, timely, and comprehensive risk assessments that assist insurance underwriters in evaluating commercial risks.

Responsibilities

• Schedule inspections directly with insureds, property managers, or designated contacts.
• Conduct on-site commercial property and general liability surveys.
• Evaluate building construction, occupancy, protection, and exposure (COPE).
• Identify property, liability, and life safety hazards.
• Document fire protection systems, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, roof condition, and overall property maintenance.
• Evaluate operational hazards and management controls.
• Review housekeeping, maintenance, employee safety practices, and loss prevention programs.
• Take clear, comprehensive digital photographs documenting the property and identified exposures.
• Complete detailed electronic inspection reports through company reporting software.
• Submit reports and photographs within established turnaround requirements.
• Communicate professionally with insureds, insurance agents, underwriters, and internal staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism during every inspection.
