Position Summary
The Senior Logistician serves as the principal logistics architect for component obsolescence management. This role executes lifecycle sustainment strategies to prevent part shortages from disrupting production or lowering system readiness. They translate raw supply data into proactive logistics solutions, ensuring critical parts are available throughout the platform's entire operational footprint.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Research and provide details to senior management for alternative and innovative solutions to adverse logistics issues including best commercial practices and inter and intra service or agency support agreements.
- Cook up and coordinate the activities of individual functional areas into a unified program to meet total support requirements.
- Understand and apply principals of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), system management, logistics readiness, logistics plans, logistics information systems, automated data processing.
- Utilize metrics to measure trends and indicators, and provide status to senior managers.
- Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) utilizing predictive tools to identify end-of-life (EOL) and obsolete components.
- Monitor supply chain alerts, vendor discontinuation notices, and government databases for immediate availability risks.
- Evaluate technical data packages to identify form, fit, and function alternative components.
- Support and attend meetings as requested.
- Develop briefing charts, reports, visual aids, and supporting documentation as assigned.
- Aid financial management of program by providing cost estimation and financial support tasks as assigned and in accordance with requirements and defined processes.
- Assess vendor health, manufacturing capabilities, and counterfeit part risks within the second- and third-tier supply chains.
- Collaborate with engineering to validate alternative parts, modified designs, or aftermarket manufacturers.
- Formulate comprehensive logistics business case analyses (BCAs) to compare the cost-benefit of redesigns versus lifetime buys.
- Provide in-depth acquisition and sustainment logistics coordination, expertise, and support including recommendations, planning, analysis, studies, reports, and requirements support to include areas of manpower, maintenance planning, personnel, supply, supportability, transportation, training, configuration management, systems engineering, and DMSMS.
- Provide technical leadership to other logisticians on the team.
- Leverage logistics management expertise to enhance engineering support aspects of the program.
- Provide weekly status on activities and inputs to monthly and quarterly reports.
Education & Experience Requirements
- BS degree in program/logistics management, engineering, or related degree - preferred
- Minimum of twelve years experience in logistics management is required, with four years experience in logistics management oversight, workload, or management.
- Experience performing program management in support of DoD programs is required.
- Level I or higher DAU certification in Lifecycle Logistics is preferred.
