About the role

The Senior Loan Officer position plays an important role in working with our members to help achieve their financial goals. This position oversees the loan process, researches loan product options with our membership, analyzes complex loan applications, and communicates decisions with borrowers. The role ensures required loan origination processes are completed per regulations and internal policies.

  • Participates in the loan application process for membership via online and in-person contacts for all loan products of the Credit Union.
  • Maintains working knowledge of products and services along with industry-standard financing to provide sound advice to membership.
  • Ensures compliance of required loan documentation and internal policies with an understanding of underwriting standards.
  • Analyzes credit reports, income verification, collateral, and other financial data to form sound lending decisions.
  • Maintains loan portfolio performance and implements strategies to mitigate risk and developing credit.
  • Assists in training and mentoring junior lending staff to promote department performance.
  • Actively works to develop and maintain business leads and referral sources to support department growth.
  • Develops lending products that meet market demands and support department goals.
  • Assists with monitoring and resolution of delinquent accounts.
  • Supports audit requests and documentation as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support department activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a lending position or direct related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to meet with members requiring a high degree of confidentiality related to financial goals.
  • Ability to self-direct and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of lending terms.
  • Experience in Indirect Lending and Home Equity is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and industry software preferred.
  • Ability to hold NMLS designation preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or recognized industry certifications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.

Schedule

This is an in-office position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with availability for occasional evening/weekend work.
