About The Job This role supports the loan accounting function for Rain City Capital's growing loan portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate loan-level reporting, reconciliation, and compliance across our lending operations. Here's what you'll be doing day-to-day: Prepares and posts daily, monthly, and quarterly journal entries related to loan activityMaintain accurate general ledgers and ensure loan-related GL and bank accounts are reconciled monthlyTrack loan status changes - originations, extensions, modifications, foreclosures, and workouts - for accurate reportingReconciles servicing and subservicer reports against internal booksPrepare, record, and reconcile debt facility borrowings, repayments, interest, fees, and related lender activity to ensure accurate facility-level reportingMaintain reconciliation of the loan portfolio originated and sold, including tracking loan movement between origination, sale, payoff, and servicing recordsSupport month-end close activities specific to the loan portfolio, including accruals and fee incomeCollaborate with internal teams to support loan funding, asset tracking, and compliance with state lending regulationsIdentify and implement process improvements to streamline loan accounting workflowsPrepares financial analyses, including loan yield calculations and variance analyses, to support portfolio performance reportingInvestigates and resolves loan accounting discrepancies, clearly explaining transaction treatment to internal teams and auditors as neededSupport internal and external audits by preparing loan-level schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentationMaintain SOX-style internal controls and documentation over loan originations, draws, payoffs, and GL reconciliationsFlag and escalate discrepancies or control gaps identified during reconciliations or auditsOther duties assigned Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. The employee in this position must be able to read, write, speak and understand English with exceptional fluency. Skills and Attributes 5+ years of loan accounting experience, preferably with a mortgage lender, hard money lender, or loan servicerBachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in accounting or finance from an accredited institutionSolid knowledge of GAAP and loan/mortgage-specific accounting principlesStrong Excel skills; experience with Microsoft Business Central or a similar ERP and loan servicing systems a plusStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, evolving environmentUnderstanding of loan draws, payoffs, escrow administration, and state lending compliance requirements Performance Expectations Rain City Capital offers a remote work environment, which means employees perform their duties remotely or in person and will be expected to check email, phone, and text messages throughout the day and respond in a timely fashion consistent with a normal company workday.
