Senior Living Cook

About the role

Merrill Family of Senior Living Communities is a privately-owned family company with a proud history of success. We are currently hiring a Cook at Merrill Gardens at Tacoma in Tacoma, WA.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food items in a timely fashion
• Visually inspect all food to ensure readiness for proper plating
• Maintain kitchen sanitation according to safety standards
• Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Culinary Training Certification or Degree in Culinary Arts
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in quality food preparation
• Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification as required by local or state agencies (within 60 days)
• Flexibility with schedule and availability to work early morning and evening shifts as well as weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of materials up to 50 lbs. Regular bending, lifting, and reaching are also part of daily responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
