Senior Living Cook

About the role

Merrill Gardens at Sheldon Park is currently seeking Cooks to support residents within their community. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with seniors and committed to providing an atmosphere that values individualism and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Aids in preparing all food items according to production amounts, recipes, and procedures.
• Ensures all food items are prepared promptly.
• Uses batch-cooking and cook-to-order methods as appropriate to maintain freshness.
• Prepares food products to meet the specific dietary needs of residents.
• Attends all scheduled dining services meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety standards by cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment.
• Keeps accurate records of temperature charts and follows company and state food safety guidelines.
• Completes assigned cleaning tasks to ensure compliance with sanitary standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality food preparation.
• Experience in scratch cooking in a high-volume, fine-dining setting.
• Proficiency in computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, etc.
• One year previous dining experience in food preparation.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or GED.
• College degree or equivalent preferred.

Skills

• Compassion and dedication to the senior population.
• Ability to handle physical demands such as frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of food safety and handling practices.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
