Primary Responsibilities
- The Linux Administrator is responsible for the sustainment and maintenance of our core servers Linux within a Bare Metal infrastructure to appropriate standards and best practices in a fast-paced work environment.
- Their responsibilities will include administering system-level procedures; patch management; service layer application; deployment creation; redundancy management, and certificate management.
- Work with developers to build containerization that promotes automated, continuous integration and accelerates delivery of new products and services.
- Install upgrades, configure, test, and support system software.
- Some on-site duties include racking devices, cabling, and deploying new systems in multiple data centers. Able to lift 40lbs.
- Perform configurations and adjustments to enhance system performance.
- Perform automated and manual backup and restorative processes.
- Ensure the necessary security procedures are implemented and enforced across their work.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 2 years relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with the Linux CLI, debugging tools, and network stack.
- Working knowledge of core networking, subnetting, firewalls, and routing.
- Proficient in configuration, troubleshooting, installation, operation, maintenance, and system administration of Multiple Linux distros such as RHEL and Ubuntu.
- Able to create shell programs and utility scripts.
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Able to work independently in an international, cross-functional team environment, including occasional off-hours tasks and meetings.
- Able to multi-task, prioritize workload, and successfully handle competing deadlines.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Able to support hybrid (Primarily on site) schedule at Annapolis Office.
We Prefer
- Experience with IBM MQ.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Containerization.
- Experience with storage appliances (TrueNAS, FreeNas) with a focus on NAS and ISCSI protocols.
- Able to support a 24x7 rotating on-call schedule will be required in this position.
- Occasional travel, as needed, less than 20 days a year.
- Experience working with Configuration Management Systems (git in particular).
- Experience Solaris and ZFS.
