Senior Linux Administrator

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support a team of administrators with standard Linux system administration duties at Stennis Space Center, MS. The selected candidate will perform Linux system administration to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including Linux-based application and license servers, virtual machines, and cluster-based systems. Coordination with other Linux system administrators is required.

Responsibilities

• Setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space.
• Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
• Participating in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing maintenance of HPC systems and software environment.
• Assisting with forecasting resource limitations and providing recommendations for increasing efficiency through proper scheduling and load balancing techniques.
• Creating and maintaining Information Assurance (IA) compliance documentation for the Information System.
• Implementing security measures using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos, and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience (additional experience may be substituted for the degree).
• DoD 8570 certification: Security+ and an OS cert (Linux+ CE, RedHat, etc).
• Willingness to occasionally work after hours and/or respond to emergency situations for problem resolution.
• Experience with SLURM, PBS, or Torque schedulers.
• General knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems concepts, as well as systems administration experience.
• Ability to develop and maintain documentation on system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.
• Familiarity with multi-factor authentication platforms, Identity Management (e.g., OpenID, LDAP, Kerberos), and scripting (Bash, Python, etc).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with storage architectures: SAN, SAS, FC, SATA.
• Experience with Zabbix.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite or Red Hat Identity Manager.
• Experience with BIND DNS.
• Experience with Puppet or Ansible.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $79,370 – $134,929. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
