Senior Lifecycle Manager

The Farmer's Dog · New York, NY · 1 wk ago
OTHR$150k–$165k/yrFull-time

The Farmer’s Dog was born from a mission to change the landscape of pet health, providing dogs and their humans with honest, smart, and simple care. We’re starting by radically improving the $90 billion pet food industry, replacing bags of highly-processed pellets with a personalized subscription service that sends complete and balanced, freshly-made dog food directly to customers’ doors. Our ultimate goal is to create innovative, delightful, and personalized experiences across all aspects of pet care.

About the role

The Farmer’s Dog is looking for a Senior Lifecycle Manager to own customer lifecycle communications and strategy, while sponsoring lifecycle strategy across several high-priority initiatives. You’ll partner closely with Product Engineering and Data to move concepts from manual, in-the-weeds execution to scalable, real-time customer journeys, lead the experimentation that shapes how we talk to customers at critical moments, and manage and grow a direct report as this work scales.

What We Stand For

  • One Team: We align ourselves to the goals we’re working to achieve and ensure we have the necessary subject matter expertise to drive meaningful impact. We orient ourselves around customer problems together, getting the right people with the right context in the right spaces to solve problems holistically.
  • We are skeptical about everything and precious about nothing: Ideas can come from anywhere, and we proactively source input. We talk to customers regularly and are quick to change course if a better solution exists.
  • We consider the customer journey in all decisions: We ensure our strategy sets customers up for success and drives long-term retention by addressing problems early and proactively.
  • We Execute For Impact: We focus on being the best we can be, not on benchmarks or rigid role expectations. Acquisition and retention are intertwined in improving customer experience.
  • We Are Focused and Work Without Assumption: We treat everything beyond our goals as hypotheses to validate, working in sequence to confirm or reject them as quickly as possible. We adjust priorities based on new information and don’t expect perfection on the first try.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end lifecycle communications from Welcome to Order Delivered and beyond, transitioning manual execution to fully automated, event-triggered messaging in partnership with Product and Engineering.
  • Define content and messaging strategy across the customer journey, including storage, feeding prep, portioning guidance, transition pacing, and support for picky eaters.
  • Shape education, content, and claims strategy to build customer understanding and belief in the product format.
  • Lead the 90-day experience and check-in comms experiments end-to-end, including test design, audience targeting, setup in Simon, QA, analysis, and iteration.
  • Partner with Data to rebuild existing customer flows and build new ones as structured journeys in Simon, enabling real-time customer data and lifecycle optimization.
  • Serve as lifecycle sponsor for strategy, enablement, and risk across growth initiatives, including mixing, weight management, Black Friday support, customer discounting, and subscriber go-to-market.
  • Manage and develop a direct report, running consistent ceremonies and feedback that model strong lifecycle practices and drive growth.
  • Support ad hoc lifecycle needs for emerging initiatives as priorities evolve.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing experience, ideally at a DTC or subscription business, including hands-on ownership of a lifecycle communications platform.
  • People management experience, with the ability to run consistent ceremonies and feedback to help a direct report grow.
  • Comfort owning ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives and partnering with Product Engineering and Data to translate technical constraints into effective customer-facing communications.
  • Experience designing and running lifecycle experiments, from test setup through QA, analysis, and iteration.
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with senior-level strategy, moving fluidly between day-to-day comms work and sponsoring adjacent initiatives.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment as a naturally curious and proactive self-starter.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Skilled communicator who can absorb and distill complexity into simple terms to drive decision-making.
  • Love dogs.

This is an in-office role requiring team members to be present 4-5 days a week to foster collaboration and engagement. This policy is subject to change at company discretion.

  • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Company-supported mental health benefits.

  • Competitive 401k plan with company match.
