About the role

Serves as the lead worker, and/or the subject matter expert assigned to the Case Tracking Division in the Fairfax Circuit Court.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise in specific areas, and/or performs the lead administrative duties to ensure accuracy and consistency in processing legal documents.
  • Affords assistance with staff scheduling, work assignment, training, and reviewing the work of unit staff.
  • Serves as a resource in resolving complex cases and customer service issues.
  • Cross-trained in all functions to perform tasks as a floater in the team.
  • Serves as backup to supervisors in their absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the functions of the assigned business areas and/or court procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Virginia, the Virginia Supreme Court's Clerk's Manual, laws and regulations related to the assigned business areas.
  • Knowledge of standard administrative procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex rules and regulations to staff and customers.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and mentor staff.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals, including the judges, general public, members of the legal and business community, and department staff.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation plus three years of experience providing administrative support, technical support, customer service, or working in a court or legal environment.

Skills

Benefits

Note: Due to the nature of the position and its responsibilities, physical presence in the office is required.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
