Senior Legal Counsel

Our US and Canada Market Company, headquartered in Denton, Texas, includes more than 1,600 team members dedicated to making food safe and available everywhere. This role supports our US and Canada Market Company activities, including commercial practices, innovation, sustainability, and IPR, and serves as a member of the US and Canada Market Leadership Team.

About the role

This position is based in Denton, Texas, and reports to the Vice President of Legal Affairs Markets Americas. Limited domestic and international travel may be required. Tetra Pak is not considering applications that require international relocation to the US.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and provide legal advice on engineering, construction, manufacturing, product supply, procurement, marketing, equipment lease/sale, and other commercial agreements.
• Identify and analyze legal issues and risks, present clear recommendations for project advancement and compliance with Tetra Pak policies, and ensure legal compliance across all company matters.
• Manage litigation matters, including oversight of outside counsel for scope and budget adherence.
• Participate in innovative projects, providing issue-spotting and advice on potential legal concerns.
• Support labor and employment activities, including two unionized manufacturing facilities.
• Act as corporate secretary for US Tetra Pak entities, manage necessary actions, and prepare documents for Board of Directors discussions.

Requirements

• Ten or more years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the manufacturing or construction sector.
• Legal experience in a corporate environment, food and beverage, or consumer-packaged goods industry is a plus.
• Juris Doctorate or L.L.M from an accredited U.S. law school.
• License to practice law and admission to (and current good standing with) the bar of at least one state; ability to gain Texas bar admission within one year is strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Commercial litigation experience is preferred.
• Antitrust and bankruptcy knowledge is a plus.
