About the role
The Senior Legal Assistant will be responsible for providing essential Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) support to the corporate practice. By accurately completing day-to-day responsibilities, this role contributes to the smooth running of overall practice operations. The role will primarily impact the team's effectiveness by maintaining high standards of work.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate lien search and UCC filing projects, including analysis of search results and management of workflow to ensure deadlines are met.
- Review security and pledge agreements, aircraft mortgages, leases and related UCC filings to ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Prepare and file UCC financing statements, amendments, assignments, continuations and terminations, and compile and review filing acknowledgments and database entries.
- Maintain and update the Firm's UCC Tool database, including entry of filing data and monitoring expiration notifications with appropriate follow up to relevant parties.
- Provide training on UCC preparation, lien search ordering, database use and assist with UCC seminar presentations.
- Preparing daily time entries for services performed.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the best practices in Uniform Commercial Code.
- May review the work of junior corporate team members.
- Ability to work fairly independently, escalating complex issues for guidance and support.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and evaluate information from multiple sources.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate work, provide guidance within the team, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5.
- Experience as a Corporate Legal Assistant and related work (UCC) experience (3-5 years).
- Clear and concise writing skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Related work and/or internship experience.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime and long hours.
- Basic knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity and competency with technology.
- Ability to follow through on projects.
- Ability to work under pressure and with a variety of personalities.
