About the Role
The Senior Lecturer (Level C) will conduct high-quality research focused on the application of computer sciences to immunology, such as protein folding, antigen discovery, antibody design, structure-guided vaccinology, or systems immunology data analysis. The role involves making a significant contribution to educational excellence within the School of Biomedical Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
You will drive an independent, high-impact research program, build national research recognition, and contribute to the supervision and development of higher degree research students. Additionally, you will deliver inspiring, evidence-based teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a focus on immunology in the context of infection and disease. The role includes collaborating across disciplines to strengthen research networks, attract competitive funding, and contribute to innovative curriculum design that enhances student learning, employability, and academic excellence.
The Senior Lecturer reports to the Head of Department (nominally Pathology) and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research in computational immunology, with a focus on areas such as protein folding, antigen discovery, antibody design, structure-guided vaccinology, or systems immunology data analysis.
- Drive an independent, high-impact research program and build national research recognition.
- Supervise and develop higher degree research students.
- Deliver evidence-based teaching in immunology, with a focus on infection and disease, across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Collaborate across disciplines to strengthen research networks and attract competitive funding.
- Contribute to innovative curriculum design that enhances student learning, employability, and academic excellence.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science and/or Immunology or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated track record in computational sciences research with outcomes of high quality and high impact, including evidence of research leadership.
- Proven commitment to staying updated with developments in immunology, infection, and/or disease models or closely allied subjects.
- Experience in obtaining research income from nationally competitive research grants (and/or research fellowships) and research end-users as a member or leader.
- Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high-caliber higher degree research students.
- Well-defined teaching philosophy and a critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning in immunology or related subjects.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, including development and delivery of courses and programs at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
- Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
Pay
Remuneration: $155,403–$178,290 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.
