About the role
Managing a team of junior designers. Working as part of a team of problem solvers, consulting and collaborating with team members and stakeholders to understand business goals, and helping solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Designing, developing, and implementing both client and internal facing applications and providing technology tools that help drive NYS strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Use enterprise architecture across application areas to build delivery models that map capabilities to business needs outlined by NYS.
- Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations.
- Address defects and enhancements as part of the application support lifecycle.
- Participate in incident resolution post implementation as required.
- Create and carry out user research plans (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups) and explain user research results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Plan and facilitate design thinking workshops (e.g., journey mapping, user needs modeling).
- Create UX deliverables (e.g., user models and scenarios, sketches, user stories, user flows, interactive prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps).
- Plan and conduct usability testing, analyze user feedback and activity, and iterate to improve the user experience.
- Work closely with developers to bring designs to life, assist with content development, and create and iterate on prototypes that require coding to improve solutions.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support usability validation.
- Design for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a UX Engineer.
- Seven or more years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full life cycle of design deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, storyboards, and user surveys.
- One to two years working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various workstreams in a Health and Human Service setting.
- Seven or more years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
- Two to five years of experience with user research, user modeling, and usability testing.
- Two to five years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
