Senior Lead Software Engineer, Full Stack (Global Payment Network)
About the role
As a Capital One Senior Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working on the Global Payment Network (GPN) Technology organization. Your role involves leading technology projects, collaborating with product managers, and delivering robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with expertise in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
- Develop and operate high-throughput software applications, focusing on scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to design and implement solutions that meet regulatory needs and improve customer experiences.
- Utilize programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, along with open-source frameworks and AWS tools.
- Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and participate in technology communities.
- Mentor other members of the engineering community and occasionally contribute to coding or code evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 9+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
- 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience with open source frameworks
- 1+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
- Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role vary by location:
- Houston, TX: $209,000 - $238,500
- McLean, VA: $229,900 - $262,400
- Riverwoods, IL: $209,000 - $238,500
Schedule
This role is full-time and eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and long-term incentives (LTI).
