Senior Lead Software Engineer, Full Stack (Global Payment Network)
About the role
As a Capital One Senior Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working on the Global Payment Network (GPN) Technology organization. Your role involves leading technology projects, collaborating with product managers, and delivering robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with expertise in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
- Develop and operate high-throughput software applications, ensuring they meet regulatory needs and scale effectively.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to design and implement solutions that drive powerful customer experiences.
- Utilize programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, along with container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree preferred
- 9+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
- 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 1+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
- Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing, operating, and scaling high throughput software applications
- Experience with distributed systems, resiliency, scalability, observability, and modernization
- Experience in interactive AI tooling
- Experience in open source frameworks
- Experience in AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service

Pay
Salaries for this role vary by location, ranging from $209,000 - $238,500 for Houston, TX, $229,900 - $262,400 for McLean, VA, and $209,000 - $238,500 for Riverwoods, IL. Performance-based incentive compensation may include cash bonuses and long-term incentives (LTI).
