Senior Lead Electrical Engineering Manager
About the role
WSP is initiating a search for a Senior Lead Electrical Engineering Manager to work in Boise, ID; Virginia Beach, VA; or Huntsville, AL. The role involves projects with WSP’s Government Services Division and working with a growing organization that meets clients' objectives and addresses their challenges.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques and processes to improve various project phases, including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
- Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, operating strategies, and design requirements that ensure safety and functionality for users, systems, and infrastructure.
- Manage cross-functional teams of engineers from project inception to completion, overseeing budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, technical calculations, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Prepare data and visualizations like tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, and illustrations for interpreting or presenting complex data, findings, or analyses.
- Develop comprehensive technical reports and presentations explaining research, findings, concepts, and recommendations addressing design and construction issues or opportunities.
- Oversee client relationships and provide technical input during pursuit efforts. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- 15+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer.
- Professional Engineering license.
- US Citizenship due to client requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical design, especially in the DOD industry, with experience in DOD criteria such as FC 1-300-9N, UFC 3-501-01, and UFC 3-550-01.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management, including involvement in renovation, new design, and construction projects.
- Well-defined knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Ability to make technical computations and calculations using electrical engineering principles, understand plans and specifications, and compare to applicable regulations.
- High proficiency in technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, SKM, ETAP, AGI 32, etc.), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Effectiveness at coordinating and directing others to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
- Flexibility to work various schedules to meet business needs and ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changes in a high-pressure work environment.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing small to large-scale projects.
- Experience with design/build projects.
- Experience managing direct reports within the electrical engineering discipline.
- Additional certifications such as LEED AP and PMP.
