Senior Lead DevOps Engineer

About the Role

This role is based at one of our corporate offices in McLean, VA, Dallas, TX, or Memphis, TN. Join an in-house Technology team creating consumer-facing, cutting-edge technologies that revolutionize the hospitality industry worldwide. As part of the DevOps team reporting to the Director of Pipeline and Platform Engineering, you will support projects at the forefront of hospitality technology progress.

Responsibilities

  • Architect next-generation cloud platforms and automation solutions.
  • Devise and evolve code-driven automation strategies ensuring environment consistency across development, testing, and production.
  • Build long-term automation solutions using scripting and programming (Groovy, Shell, Python, Terraform, or Java/JavaScript).
  • Understand new architectural concepts and recommend improvements from an infrastructure and security perspective.
  • Support API Gateways / API Management platforms (e.g., WSO2, Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, MuleSoft).
  • Understand API lifecycle management including design, versioning, security (OAuth2/JWT), throttling, and monitoring.
  • Provide technical leadership and implementation guidance for UI, APIs, and microservices.
  • Work with development teams to guide best practices, design patterns, and operational standards.
  • Support reliability engineering efforts and participate in on-call rotations for mission-critical and revenue-impacting cloud services.

Deliverables

  • Design and implement enterprise DevOps architectures, reference patterns, and tooling strategies.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD tools and pipelines across the organization (GitLab preferred).
  • Drive the MSK/Kafka roadmap, including upgrades, observability, and architectural improvements.
  • Enable seamless, secure, and available software builds and deployments across Agile teams.
  • Configure, tune, deploy, and operate Kubernetes clusters (EKS preferred).
  • Maintain containerized applications with Docker or similar technologies.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of professional work experience in Technology or a related field.
  • Five (5) years with CI tools such as GitLab (preferred) or Bamboo.
  • Four (4) years architecting and developing automation to support Continuous Delivery.
  • Four (4) years administering Kubernetes.
  • Four (4) years on AWS cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming in Bash.
  • Experience supporting reliability efforts and on-call rotations.
  • Experience deploying and operating API platforms in Kubernetes environments (EKS preferred).
  • Hybrid role requiring proximity to one of our US office locations (McLean, Dallas, Memphis).
  • Travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, or Associate's Degree plus 6+ years of Technology-related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of Technology-related experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of professional work experience in Technology or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of CI tool experience (GitLab or Bamboo), Cloud, and Kubernetes platforms.
  • Three (3) years of management experience.
  • Scripting experience in Python or Terraform.
