About the role
As a CNC Programmer at Parks Metal, you will program and set up CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision parts and components. The ideal candidate has experience building fixtures, programming for a fourth axis, and leading a small team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and write programs for CNC machines using CAD software based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Set up CNC machines, including loading materials, tools, and programs needed for each job.
- Operate CNC machines to execute machining tasks with precision and efficiency.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure parts meet standards and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of programs, tooling, and setup sheets.
- Report directly to the Plant Manager or Shop Foreman, providing updates on production progress and technical issues.
- Wear appropriate PPE such as safety glasses and ear protection when operating CNC machines.
Requirements
- Proficiency in programming CNC machines using CAD software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to understand part dimensions and tolerances.
- Experience setting up CNC machines, including tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
- Strong understanding of quality control processes to ensure precision and accuracy.
- Capability to troubleshoot machining issues and implement solutions to optimize production efficiency.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and convey technical information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in CNC machining or a related field.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with CNC machining operations.
- Knowledge of G-code programming language.
- Strong math skills.
